Charles founded Hylan Advisors after a successful career in accounting that began in 1990. His first 11 years were spent consulting with and working in firms of all sizes, from sole practitioners to national and Big 5 firms. During this time, he worked at Price Waterhouse and Arthur Andersen, starting as an auditor before transitioning into strategic planning and marketing.
In 2001, Charles joined his partner, Jeff Pawlow, in launching The Growth Partnership (TGP). Over time, TGP grew into a 25-person consulting firm specializing in the accounting profession. In 2020, Charles and Jeff sold TGP to Engineered Tax Services, where it continues to provide marketing, training, and benchmarking surveys (IPA and Rosenberg) to accounting firms across the U.S. and Canada.
During his tenure at TGP, Charles facilitated strategic planning retreats, helped firms implement new partner compensation models, led leadership training sessions, managed the Rosenberg and IPA surveys, and presented survey results to numerous associations and networks.
